Cancer Profile

The Cancer personality may appear to be deeply contradictory due to the fact that of any sign, Cancers are a highly diverse group. The self-actualized Cancer is a well-balanced, dependable, adaptable, sensitive, and introspective person. If they have overcome their tendency towards self-absorption and emotional codependency, they will be extremely successful in their professional, personal, and romantic lives. No matter their emotional development, they will be surrounded by a very tight-knit group of friends and family and will create deep and lasting connections with those close to them. However, even the most realized Cancer will hold  their true thoughts and feelings from their closest friends, and will prefer to support and nurture those around them.

Because they would rather perceive and observe than act and react, they are highly intuitive and have an immense understanding of the people around them. They cherish those who are genuine and emotive as those relationships fulfill their craving to be needed. In large part, this is due to their insecurity and often well-hidden shyness. Often, only other Cancers realize how closed off their fellow star signs are, and how difficult it is to open up emotionally. Other signs project their emotional intimacy and assume their feeling of closeness and trust is reciprocated, when in actuality, this is usually far from the truth. The emotionally closed-off nature of the Cancer personality can lead to built up anger and bitterness without a proper outlet, creating vast differences in Cancer traits.

Attracting the Cancer

To many, the passion and success of the Cancer man or woman is very attractive. While establishing courtship, the Cancer woman will be flirty and feminine, though flighty, if she is interested. If your intentions are insidious, she will easily detect this and will reject you. However, if you are able to give her the validation and connection she requires, there is potential for a lasting and rich relationship between you. A true relationship with a Cancer, either as friend or partner, will be highly rewarding and long-lasting. The Cancer, when emotionally available, is deeply loyal and intensely affectionate.

Both the Cancer woman and Cancer man will not be direct with you — no matter how interested they are in you. They will not risk rejection, and the Cancer man, in particular, requires your validation, trust, and emotional intimacy before he will be prepared to jump into a lasting relationship — but never corner him or pressure him into a relationship. He will need to take that step himself, even if you are initially pursing him.
